I was toying with the idea of putting a new speaker in my son's 15G amp. I know it's a cheap amp, and I plan on getting something better like a Mustang II later on, but I'd like to see if I can get some better sound out of the 15G. Celestion has the Eight 15 and there are some other selections of 8" speakers out there. Would the Celestion be an improvement over the stock speaker, or is there another speaker that would be better? I'm not looking to spend a bunch since it will be going into a cheap amp.

Lie I said, I know it's a cheap amp, so I don't need to hear the standard advice to throw it in the trash.

Any quality speaker is likely to be an improvement over the stock driver. It thus becomes an issue of how much money you're prepared to spend (and tempered by your intention down the road to ultimately replace the entire amp).

I guess nobody here knows any answers to my question besides the one ambiguous reply already posted.

Wow. Way to win friends and influence people. We'll all be lining up to help you from here on out.

FYI: Arjay is one of the most knowledgable and respected people here in the amp forums. His answer was perfectly clear. Any good name brand speaker (Celestion, Jensen, Eminence, etc.) will be better the the piece of junk in the amp now. What you buy depends on your budget. We're not talking a high end Alnico 12" speaker here.

I predict a long life for you in this forum.

Excuse me? I don't know, nor do I care, who "Arjay" is. Nor do I think he answered my question with other than an ambiguous, smartassed answer. I'm sorry if the amp I'm asking about isn't worthy of the attention of a bunch of snobs.

I seriously doubt I'm half your age (could only hope), however, I will saw your approach is all wrong if you are looking for help. There isn't anyone on the forum that "owes" you anything yet your attitude seems to indicate they do. You'll find most are very generous with their time and experience, Arjay, as Bill (bluesky636), said is one of the most knowledgable and helpful on this forum.

Perhaps do a little research first and come back with a few alternatives to get feedback on.

Good luck.
