You probably already know what my grouse is : after 10 years of ownership, I still have problems controlling my HRDeville 212!
Trying to find the balance between volume, "drive" and "more drive" settings are enough to send you to an asylum, and I confess I'm no wiser as regards a solution than I was the day I bought it.....in fact, for recent gigs I've resorted to using my Mustang amp, which also has the advantage of not giving me a hernia every time I try to move it.....
Anyway, I recently bought a "volume box" - an attenuator, if you will - in the vain hope that it might go some way towards solving my De Ville headache....but it has to placed (last in line) in the FX loop.
This causes me a problem : the very few FX pedals I use are placed between guitar and amp input, because I use the amp FX loop "send" to feed an input on our PA system.
Am I stuck, or is there a way of using the attenuator AND still feed the PA?

How about a "Y" cable from the preamp out, one to PA and one to the Volume box, then out of the volume box to Power Amp In? Might cause noise, try and see.

What exactly is the problem with dialing in the drive and more drive? You have a "Drive" pot and a "Master" pot, and both only work on the Drive and more drive channels, which gives you a nearly infinite adjustment, and if you can't dial it in with those two pots.......WTF? The normal volume doesn't work for the drive channels. :?

Will give the "Y" cable idea a try- thanks.

As regards the controls, it's well known that achieving some kind of volume balance between the clean and drive/moredrive channel was (to say the least) challenging - that's why in more recent models the controls were more tapered....
To say the controls are "sensitive" is an understatement!
