Hello mates,

I have to make a decision about what amp to buy, there are 2 choices:
* New Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue 40watt (1x12)
* Fender Blues Deville 60watt (2x12)
I've played the BDRI in the stores and I liked they way it sounded, but I can get the bigger version for about the same amount of money. It is a bit older, made in the ninetees, but that might make it collectable?
What do you think?, the deville will be a pain in the $@! moving, cause it is heavy.
Any Feedback?

I've owned a hot rod deluxe (1x12) and a hot rod deville (2x12). The deville sounded much nicer. I guess because of having two speakers.

Hello Steven-gh,

I wouldn't consider the collectability thing.
Choose the one that sounds best and has
the features your after.

Cheers.

I considered it because it's the 2x12 wich isn't being made atm.
I think they will sound quite the same, features are the same, already played the new BDRI and sounded nice.

One other factor to consider besides the extra weight is: Can you make use of the additional volume? The Deluxe is loud and I run the 'Drive' on channel 2 at 12. Because it is so loud, it is hard to utilize the master volume very high, where you get your blusey tone. We usually mic the amps, which seems to be the more common practice today, and the only time I got the overdrive tone one might expect is the time we shared an event with another band whose practice was not to mic the amps. We used their setup, so i had to turn up the master to have the amp heard. Then I got the bluesy, overdrive tone, but I don't care for all that 'stage noise'.

So, consider the setup that you will most likely play by, as I can only imagine that the DeVille compounds this problem even more.

I don't know if I would consider that as a problem, I'm not really into the overdrive channel on this amp especially not more than 5.
The bigger version should break up later right?, don't know if that is also what you ment, it stays longer 'clean'..
At this stage I still don't know what to do..

Correct. The 60 watt would break up at a higher volume.
If all you care about is "clean" and you think you can use the additional volume without turning the amp down to the point where you loose tone, then weight and your impression on the tone of one vs the other is all that matters.

Good luck in your choice.
