I currently own a Fender Mustang I which is great for practice and some demo recordings. The Super Champ X2 seems to be the next best thing to the Mustang but the Excelsior I tried out had a great sound. I'm not big on the Blues Junior and anything bigger is overkill. The last Fender option would be a '65 Princeton Reverb or '65 Deluxe but I'm still unsure if I can deal with the weight. Main guitar is Telecaster.

What type of playing scenarios do you envision with this new amp?

For studio work, the amp I use most frequently is a 1965 Princeton Reverb. It idles quietly, doesn't rattle the windows in the sound booth when dimed, and the engineer finds it the easiest to mic.

YMMV, HTH

Would that be a better choice than the '65 Deluxe Reverb? The Princeton is one of the only Fender RI amps I have not come by at a shop.

That's difficult to quantify -- I've also used my '68 Deluxe Reverb with near-similar satisfactory experiences.

The Princeton Reverb is voiced differently with its 10-inch speaker and its tremolo circuit is unlike those of the other blackfaces (or the re-issues of same).

I like that the Princeton is less weight and would save my a lil cash but considering I have played and enjoyed the Deluxe Reverb maybe I should just go with that. I have time to think about it though because I not planning on purchasing until spring-summer. Right now it is to cold out.
