My tubes are going out on my blues deluxe and I was wondering what anyone would recommend to replace them with. Thanks!

Probably depends on the guitar that you use, and the type of sound that you want. Strat, LP, blues, hard rock....?

For preamp I prefer a 5751 V1 (JAN Philips, JAN GE, GE), GT 12AX7-C V2, GT 12AT7 V3, and for output, GT 6L6 S with an 8 to 10 rating. I have had mixed results with the Sovtek 5751 in the V1 position, sometimes I get a slight hum added, but some of them work well. This is my favorite combination for HRDlx and BDRI amps, and I like a clean tone with smooth, warm distortion when switched to the drive channel.

This is an excellent thread, with lots of great suggestions for tube types. The author, bluesky636, probably has the baddest BDRI on the planet, and great descriptions of sound with various tube types, as well as input from other users and their choices. :)

I followed bluesky's advice and did this..
V1 = 12AY7
V2 = 12AX7
V3 = 12AX7
V4/V5 = 6L6GC

Nothing spendy, an EH 12AY7 and a set of matched JJ's 6L6GC's.
Big difference in the tone though and I have a C-Rex also...
I play some pretty spacey stuff myself...
