I just got a new Blues Deluxe Reissue amp. I noticed there is a small dark spot on the tweed and I wanted to clean it. It must have been from someone handling it in the factory. I have only had it 2 days. What can I use? I don't want to make it worse. Its the limited Edition Vintage Smokey Tweed.

mallen, is it lacquered? If it is, there's not a lot you can do with it without making a mess out of it.
We used to own a carpet and upholstery cleaning company way back and I was certified by the IICRC in different cleaning methods. Please read the suggestions completely. A photo would be great if you can get one.

If it's not lacquered, I would try just the suds from Woolight if it's just common soil.
If it grease, you could try some OMS (oderless mineral spirits). Test either method on the bottom of the amp to be sure it won't loosen the fabric and don't scrub or rub it because it will leave a fuzzy spot on the fabric. Make sure you let it dry completely to be sure it doesn't discolor the fabric.

Odorless mineral spirits will dissolve most common contact adhesives, such as those used to affix Tolex or tweed linen to an amp cabinet. Exercise extreme caution if using it and, as Supro suggests, test it on a small unobtrusive area beforehand.

OMS will also dissolve latex carpet backing too. The key is to put it on a clean white towel and not saturate the spot. We used it for years without incident. Don't dump it directly on the spot.

If it bothered me that much I'd just send the amp back or live with it. It's Tweed, It's going to get dirty eventually and add some Mojo.

I asked Fender and they said its "treated with lacquer". I used a damp cloth with warm water and it came off. I ended up returning for an exchange because it looked like it got dropped. The other corner was white like it got worn in the packaging in storage or shipping. They ship them upside down. So the top corners get contact with Styrofoam and plastic. I know a little wear is cool but not right out of the box. Just in case anyone is interested Fender told me to use damp cloth and in the direction of the tweed and not in circles. I assume since it was treated with lacquer it would stand up against light dirt. I guess since it was it was easier to clean.

Yep the lacquer would "protect" the fabric to some degree. Don't blame you for sending it back.

Well tweed cleaning and Lnon crclan are different but in general, can the cleaning of carpet or similar hard fabric be useful in tweed spot clearance?

What the professional will do in such case?

Really?? Your post is SPAM and has been reported. Pretty lousy way of advertising life insurance.

Hello, is this like a common problem because I am quite curious.

Take a look at some vintage tweeds that survived the journey from "there" to "here" and you'll have your answer.

I have reported "rupertj" as a spammer. Check the tiny print in his signature. Not too bright.
