I have an original fender cyber twin and am preparing an art show that requires sound. I've never seen an amp like this used to play a cd or digital file, but thought it would sound great in the gallery. I'll be playing a mixture of sounds including spacecraft engines, synth pads, and slow chopping sounds.

So I guess my question is can I use the cyber twin as a sort of PA? On the rear panel, there are Midi In, Out and Thru, SPDIF Output, Right and Left XLR Lines Out.

Art show opens in 2 weeks.

Hi sethmacy,

You can certainly use a guitar amp to play sound effects, just start with a low input signal so as not to overdrive the amp. Generally, music does not sound great through a guitar amp, but check it out before using it live to see if it sounds good enough for your needs.

Ok thanks. I tried the same thing with a different amp before and couldn't get it to work. How do you suggest to connect the two?

I'm hoping that using the cyber twin amp modelling, I can get a good sound out of it. If not, I'll probably go rent something more appropriate. Just wanted to try this first.

Thanks again :D

I presume that you have a portable CD player with a 1/8" output?

If so, try one of these:

and one of these:

Plug into the amp input.
