Hello. I am a total newby when it come to recording a guitar. My question is, what is the best way to record the sound from my new Vibro Champ XD amp?
Do I use a condenser microphone?
Do I use the line out of the amp? And if so, who do I connect it to my PC?
Or is there a better way?

All suggestions, help, and advice is greatly appreciated.

This is a tough question because so much of the answer depends on what type of result you prefer. Be more specific with what type of recording you are going for and what you desire to do with a guitar track. I prefer a USB mic these days. That way I can get the live sound from my speaker and room acoustics while still being able to easily incorporate or tweak the track in a software mixer like Garage Band or ProTools. I do it this way as a means to achieve my ideas and to hand them off to collaborators. Not for studio production value.

I have a Samson Condenser USB Mike, so would that do?
I would like to compose tracks and songs that have a studio like quality to it, so would a USB Mike do a decent job?
Also, what PC equivalent of garageband would you recommend? A software that is good at editing multiple tracks, and also to be able to remove white noise, or hiss, from the background.

There is always Audacity.

Harrison Mixbus (based on Ardour which is free) is available by subscription or one time purchase.

I goes up from there.

You can use the USB mic but you will have better control with a good soundcard and a quality mic and pre amp. It just depends on your budget.

Maybe check in the Super Champ forum where they do a lot more recording?
