I noticed that the input jacks for the foot switch and the effects loop had loose nuts, so I tightened them down. Now the amp hisses and the foot switch does not work. I tried the foot switch on my Blues Deluxe and the switch works fine. I ordered some switch craft jacks to replace those plastic jacks, but am wondering why just tightening those down would cause issues. Maybe broke the solder joints on the pcb?

I am gonna wait until I get those jacks before I tear it down. Also got some new volume pots on the way and a couple of new power tubes, so I will do it all at once.

Yes, those jacks are soldered to the PCB and the ones on the earlier Hot Rods are prone to failure. If you tightened the nuts too tight, it is possible you pulled the solder connections loose. I believe the jacks were upgraded in the later, Mexican made amps. When you upgrade to regular Switchcraft type jacks, you will need to use isolating washers on both sides of the front panel as the jacks are not grounded to the front panel. You will have to pull the main circuit board to do all of these mods (except for the tubes, obeviously).

I got the plastic shoulder washers and the top ones, so it should be good to go once I get them. I found some good info here http://www.justinholton.com/hotrod/inputjack.html

I had recently switched out the V1 tube with a 12AY7 and I was hoping that it was not making the hiss, cuz I am really digging the tone now..

I have also switched out the stock speakers with two Ragin Cajuns and two Eminence Legends. I bought an Epiphone ES339 a few months back and that thing sounds dreamy through that Deville with no pedals. The same with my acoustic electric bass guitar and acoustic electric guitar. I have a strat that I stuck some Dimarzio Area pickups in and it really shines through that Deville. I am finding myself playing through the Deville more than my Blues Deluxe lately, just something about those 4 x 10's that seem to give a little more presence than my 12 cabs with the cleans.

Yeah, I love my 5F6A clone for the same reason. Those 4x10s seem tighter and faster then any 12" speaker. :D

So I switched all of the plastic jacks, except for the power amp in, and everything is working great. It even seems to have little less noise and the foot switch works great. I used Switchcrafts so it should be good to go for quite awhile now...
