I'm afraid that's not possible as one of the resistor ends gets cut. I've done the mod perfectly now, the solder joints a strong and shinny. It's not the mod, don't know what it is.

It is possible to solder the snipped resistor, and you can't definitively know that it isn't the mod unless you verify as suggested. BTW, it's shiny.

True, I could but why would it be the mod if it appears as though the mod is working? Another question, what part of the mod did I possibly do wrong that could cause reverb to leak into the dry signal? I mean, it's a really simply mod, there's nothing to go wrong. If one of the resistors got too hot would that cause it? The reverb and vibrato are added to channel 1, I don't see how the mod would affect the dry signal.

Could it possibly be a microphonic tube?

I wouldn't rule it out at this point.

In amps with circuit boards the board, itself, can become interactive and microphonic. A LITTLE bit of silicone sealer between heavy components or between these components and the board can help this issue.

Are you sure the "reverb" artifact is the same, in all parts of a room of in other rooms? I've rule this out, first before digging into the amp's cicruitry.

Alos, too much gain may lead to microphony or feedback issues. May want to try a good lower gain tube in the input section (like a quiet 5751), too.

Good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I put a 12AU7 in the reverb position and it seems to have got rid of the reverb. I have a feeling the 12AU7 is noisier than the 12AX7, is that normal?

Am glad I redid the mod anyway because it was always in the back of my mind what a crappy job I did of it.

There are two tubes delegated to the reverb circuit (V3 and V4). In which socket did you install the 12AU7?

I put it in 3, should I put a 12AU7 in 4 as well? Am not 100% sure but the 12AU7 seems to add more noise. I definitely need to use higher numbers to get the same level of reverb.

Try a 12AY7 there -- the higher amplification factor may lessen the noise and give you more usable reverb effect.
