It would be foolish to replace R78 and R79 if they are working fine, and it seems that they are, your noise isn't from these resistors. In fact, before you mess with any resistors at all, try replacing the preamp tubes one at a time, substitute a known good 12AX7 in each position. Put the new 12AX7 in V1, if the noise is still there replace the original tube, then try the new tube in V2, then V3. I doubt if the Plate resistors are your problem, but it's possible. After trying the preamp tubes, if you want to try the Plate resistors, they should be available at any place that sells electronic components, including Radio Shack.

Yes parts are cheap , but work to do the job on printed circuit not easy even for a tech.

ok its been awhile but i found sometime to open this thing up. before i am to take out R57/58 i thought i check the specs of the ones on the board.

on board:
R57 measured 81.1K
R58 didnt register on the meter

new resistors:
R57 measured 81.7k.
R58 measured 99.7k

with this info in hand i believe it is R58 that is bad.

proceeding w/ replacement.

You cannot accurately measure resistance, if the resistor is still in the circuit. You need to lift one leg of the resistor off the board and then measure the DC resistance.

Awesome job! Now let's hear about the Dvl. Did you say that you had the same problem with that one too?

yes the deville seems to do the same thing but it doesnt crackling it will just go haywire after some time playing. i thought it was the inputs which one was bad so it was removed until i could get another one but it still went haywire w/ only the #2 input. first i need to fix the blues jr its my main amp since its what i practice at home through and it is always on if i'm home. it has a bad bass pot i got the pot will probably replace it 2moro and do the billm tone stack mod.
