According to some reviews of guitar player, peavey classic 30 is better than the current hrd 3? Anybody out there using peavey classic 30.. I used to have peavey htx212, and a carvin vx212, but non of them made me happy.. I own hrd limited edition but still it gives me doubt, and the only thing i dont like with my amp is the popping sound when switching drive to clean channel which i already discuss earlier in this forum. Overall i like its clean channel, but i just want some peace of mind and defy my doubt about my amp.. Hope to hear something good news from you guys..

I tuned up a friend's then-new 1 x 15 Peavey Delta Blues 30 about seven years ago (new speaker, hand-massaged tube array). He's still playing it at gigs every weekend and hasn't yet been back for servicing. That says a lot about its fundamental reliability IMO.

I have a Peavy Classic 30 . Not bad sound but very poor desing when time to repair or check bias or any work on the circuit . Not tough.

I won't recommend it . I'll sell it.

The C30 is a rockin' amp. I had one, but decided to keep my HRD because I already had the EL84 sound covered with a couple of PJ's. the c 30 sounds good at all volume levels and has one of the best OD channels going .... Even at low volume. "Betta" ?? Only your ears can decide for you.

The Peavey Classic 30 is loud. But, bluesy? Not the best. And also, not as repsonsive to articulations as other amps. At least IMHO. A good alnico speaker and Reflektor 6N14P-EV or GE or RCA 6BQ5 tubes help.

They are a royal beetch to work on. To me, the DRRI has much more potential.

I had a Classic 30 for a few years for doing smaller gigs - couldn't recommend it highly enough for a working amp, and that comes from someone who really, really does not like Peavey stuff in general.

Not one single problem with it in several hundred gigs, it wasn't the most sensitive amp in the world, but the consistency of the tone more than made up for that - you could get a great tone anywhere, very easy to dial in to match varying rooms. Crank it up a bit, and those little things punch far above their price bracket tonewise, and they do that 'just on the edge' bluesy thing remarkably well once you find the right settings and get some air moving.

If you don't gig much, there are far nicer amps available, but if you venture outside on any kind of regular basis, I'd definitely recommend one. The HRD is a great amp as well, of course - I'd try both, and see which one floats your proverbial boat.
