I am in the market for a new amp. I have been searching for a while and have narrowed my list to the Super Sonic 22 or the 65 Deluxe. I like the overall looks of the Sonic 22 better and I like the burn channel. In a previous life a owned Deluxe and liked it very much but had to sell it to replace a lost guitar. I have pedals for overdrive to use with the Deluxe if need be.

As far as realiabilty and overall tone how would you rate these two amps? I have read some posts on here which refer to reverb problems on the 22 and just overall qc issues with Fender (which I have not previously experienced) Just wondered if others would mind sharing their opinions/ experience. Thanks

QC/QA problems now seem to span the entire Fender amp line, from the entry-level models to the pro tube series.

You said it Arjay. I've noted a number of posts about the SS22 with reverb and other issues. Rather troubling given that it's a new amp line and there aren't so many out there that there's bound to be some problems (like the HRD series). Rather odd since it's not just one factory that seems to be putting out lemons.

Yes, I don't think quality issues are specific to a given model. My SS22 had a channel switching problem and while in for service had the reverb squeal fix addressed as well (I had not actually experienced the reverb squeal, but there is a tech pub out to the rpr techs to address it when one comes in for service.)

My friend's DRRI, purchased w/in a month of my SS22 had intermittent reverb squeal.

Fender's network of authorized rpr cntrs will fix the problems at no cost, and they don't seem to recur. Shouldn't have occurred in the first place and fixing it doesn't totally absolve Fender for the aggravation, but if you really like the amp.....well, just saying.
