Love the fender cleans, I play all sorts of music and planning on getting in to a band that covers country and rock, dont want it too loud on stage i like the blues deluxe reissue limited smoky tweed but dont know if i like the jensen speakers? perhaps the 40 watts is to much? like the fender deluxe reverb reissue but i went into a store and the reverb didnt work, kinda scared me, also like the limited gold and black supersonic but am scared of the issues and one other the egnaters tweaker and rebel, hear stories on them as well. Need some help, i understand all have issues but what has the least? And what do you perfer. Thanks for any advice.

"And what do you perfer"?

Any Fender Deluxe Reverb made before 1980.

Have it professionally serviced and re-tubed by a competent amp tech and you'll be good for a decade or more. And unlike some contemporary POS, it's an amp you'll never outgrow.

I would go with the Blues Deluxe Smoky Tweed and change the speaker if not satisfied. It's a great amp - I know because I own one. They only made 150 of these so best not wait too long.

Here is a link to my thread with pics: http://forums.fender.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=80859

Keep us posted.

I wonder why some folks continually post negativity toward post '85 Fender amps on a 'modern guitar amplifiers...1985-current' designated section of this forum. If all these viewpoints were over in the 'vintage' section, I could better understand. What is the point?

Are there really enough of these pre-80's Fenders to satisfy the demand for all who seek the Fender tone(s)?

Regarding the modern Fenders, I don't think the OP could go wrong with the BDRI, DRRI, or the Super Sonic 22. I have both the BDRI and the SS22 and like them both.

The BDRI can be quite loud and, IMO goes from tone-robbing low volume to too loud with the smallest movement of the volume knob. Also, understand that the amount of "drive" on this amp is very modest...i.e. bluesy.

The SS22 is built on the DRRI platform minus tremelo plus a wide ranging "drive" channel. I find its volume easier to control than the BDRI, yet sufficient for small to mid-sized gigs. Mic it for larger ones.

The one major plus on new Fenders is a 5 yr. warranty with a very widespread network of repair centers, so there's little to fear if there's a problem. I've had some minor problems and all were fixed quickly, at no cost to me, and have been non-recurring.

The OP specifically asked for preferences.

If you have a problem with that then perhaps your forum interests would be better served over at the TDPRI or Harmony Central where the rest of the politically-correct pantywaists reside.

I inferred since the OP's request was posted on the modern amp section and since he specifically asked about several 'modern' amps that he was most interested in same. Of course all opinions are worthy of consideration, but there is a difference in the expression of an opinion and what some would constitute as a 'crusade'. The difference IMO is delivery.

As far as TDPRI and Harmony Central, I never visit either unless a 'search' leads me there. And as far as 'politically-correct pantywaists', my views on such follows the quote I read somewhere on the internet:
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical contingency, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous ultra-liberal mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
Yet, there's always room for mutual respect even in disagreement IMO. If that, and the fact that I'm not often 'in-your-face' (although I slip on occasion), makes me a 'politically correct pantywaist' in your view, then I guess I am. :)

Agreed, unless the budget doesn't allow. The old Fender's are getting increasingly expensive, especially the DRs.

And new Fender's are getting increasingly cheaper.

To me, that speaks volumes.

I have a new blues deluxe, couple a months now. Changed the speaker to a Eminence GB 128(greenback) worked wonders on the drive channel. But im using a Bogner red xtc for higher gain and a Love pedal Les Lius for vintage tweed tones and lower gain. The stock drive is adjust as good almost but i like the love pedal a bit more, little warmer though its all good. Amp runs like a champ so far.
