I have an old SS 112. Is it possible that it has a tube rectifier ( think I've read that somewhere) or did all those early 60 W SS coem with solid state rectifiers?

Do you see a tube rectifier inside the cabinet?

Hint: No, you don't.

terrybell, solid-state rectification. I don't think companies have put tube rectifiers on 60 watt amps, since the days of very tough GZ34 and 5U4GBs. At least, not in guitar amps.

Beemer...you included a schematic when the OP can't tell if he has a rectifier or not...might be a waste of time  . No offense to the OP, no bad questions, but if you are going to play tube amps, you might want to spend some time here and learn a bit, it may save your bacon on a gig one day. Again not throwing stones...just some advice.

Have been playing guitars and different amps since 1972, always been more interested in the knobs in the front then the stuff in the back. That's me. So instead of turning that heavy amp on its front and start looking for tubes, I thought that I could just post a question on this forum. Man, was I wrong. On the other hand, Through all this years on stage, I've never blown a tube, some fuses yes, but never a tube.

Usually a bad power tube causes a fuse or other component to blow. If you are having fuses blow then something else in the chain caused the fuse to blow. Rarely a fuse just gives out!
