Hi,
Well The Rolling Stones played their last fantastic gig last night and now I got the blues to what gonna happen next?
Maybe we guys need to keep their legacy going. Has anyone got the Honky Tonk to Start Me Up guitar tone out of the SCXD? If so, it would be great to have those settings. Also, It would be great to have a dedicated website for SCXD users sharing their settings like those with SCX2 via FUSE.
Thanks, Sam

Prolly could dial the tone in with any amp and selected pedals. I can get close with my old VC and Telecaster. And an MXR-90.

Thanks, with your tele, what voice do you use for the classic Keith tone?

Cheers, Sam

I know the Keith tone very well because I'm playing all his stuff in my tribute band. I've been able to get very close a number of ways (there's not just one):

1) Crank up my SF Champ.
2) Crank up my 5E3 tweed Deluxe
3) Crank pretty much any classic Fender tube amp.
4) Lovepedal Les Lius pedal on the "High Power Twin" setting into any clean amp.

The key is that Keith does not use a lot of gain. So, you need a lower gain drive set up. You should have the overdrive low enough that it should sound almost clean if you play lightly or roll back the volume knob on your guitar a bit. If you get the gain too high then it just becomes mushy.

Also don't run any other effects like reverb or delay. Just dry, driven sound. The rest is in the playing.

Cheers. Gonna rock the blues when home tonight. A quick question, which guitar does Keith uses mostly - LP or tele?
Will check your link.
Cheers again, Sam.

Classic MXR-90, dialed-in, helps with the early stuff. VC at "10" is 1960's Stones. I'm pretty sure one of these or an old tweed Champ was sitting around the studio, at the time of a lot of early recordings. Different tunings, for sure.

You after 1970-80's tone, I afraid an Ampeg is what you may need. And "two fingers and one @sshole." :D

Remember to tune to open G for those Stones classics or you won't get near the Keith sound!

I second the mxr-90 with a od petal with very little drive ...using it the od petal as a boost w a touch of growel sound . & of course a fender tube amp.
