I am currently In a band. We have two guitarists. I play through a mustang III and he plays through an AC30. I can't compete with him cranked and have been looking for a new amp. I wanted first a silverface twin reverb but I didn't like it and I haven't come across a twin reverb reissue used any where and I tried the custom vibrolux and loved the sound of it. I found it ridiculously dynamic. I just don't know if a CVR will compete volume wize with a cranked AC30.

A Vox AC30 is LOUD! You need a potent 6L6GC amp. Like a Super Reverb. Or a Bandmaster. Or better a Twin Reverb.

I have a 1972 Vibrolux Reverb. Great amp. But no way can it compete toe-to-toe with an AC30. My Bandmaster Reverb head or SR can deal with it on equal basis.

The AC30C2 combo makes use of 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and uses 4 x EL84 tubes to deliver 30 watts of power but it's 30 LOUD watts!

I'd test drive a Fender Prosonic to get in that volume/tone range.

Why can't the guy with the AC30 just turn his volume down or get an attenuator?

My local long mcquade is selling one. I can return it if the volume ain't loud enough. I also have a blackfaced silverface amp I am going to check out (some guy is locally selling it).

Agreed. The AC30 is a master volume equipped amp.

The CVR is plenty loud, but you lose headroom and end up in overdrive very quickly. It's fine if you like to play loud and dirty, but don't be looking for good cleans out of it at high volume.
