I can't find anything specific. It seems to have fallen through the cracks. The one I have sounds terrific. Plenty of drive power, clean, dirty, verby, just sounds great. 1- 12' Fender special design, red knobs (which I think is pretty lava bomby.) I have no foot switch, but i don't know if it comes with one? or one is available. Where can I get the poop on this great little amp?
Serial # LO-198855 , if thst could help any experts out there, please help if you can. I love this little amp and need to know it better. It rocks hard.
Says it's made in Brea, California 92621
Please help if you can.
Thanks, Rasrick :)

I agree with your comment about the Eighty-Five "falling through the cracks". I can't find anything on these except that Jonny Greenwood uses one. Even Fender does not mention them on their site. It's like they never existed unless you have the "Evil Twin". That one they at least acknowledge.

I know the Red Knobs don't have many great posts about them but I have had mine since 95 or so and can't complain. For the hard rock I was doing then it was fine. Now I do Country and Classic with some blues and it does the job. Not the Twin Reverb I would love to buy but I don't need that since I don't play out. If I do have to go up with a drum kit, it gets miked to the board anyway. Ususally I let the board do the work and keep the volume down on the amp cause I dont like the interaction with the speaker at high volume. Gets a bit too much high end. Shrill is the word I use.

To the amp, great clean tone but a bit sterile. That's to be expected though. you don't get the warmth of a tube amp. These days I use processing (Line 6 pod) before it so most of the time that isn't a bad thing as it doesn't color the pod tone. It's light enough not break your back and it's still running great after around 20 years. Cant complain there either.

If I run across anything in my search I will post a note here. Maybe we can drum up some info on these things.

The footswitch your lookin' for is a three button and it'll say Channel/Reverb/Boost. I dont have that switch I found that my princeton 2 button switch controls- channel and reverb and thats enough for me. The boost button activates the boost knob on the front panel for a channel boost. I dont really need the boost option so thats what I know about my "85". Just remember only fender footswitchs will work with fender amps. Its a fender design thing to reduce noisy poping and cracking when switching channels they built the switches to change the channels electronically. These are not mechanical switches it's some kinda vudoo done with resistance. Happy hunting on that foot button.
By the way I put an 8 ohm bass speaker in my " big live 85" and it has served me well.its not a tube amp but it lite loud and reliable. I really like mine. I like to take it to open mikes and have all the guitar players ask me "What kinda amp is that?"

Does anyone know the relationship between the Eighty-Five, the Studio 85 and the Deluxe 85? I just picked up an Eighty-Five and it has the year 1987 on the circuit board. From reviews on Harmony Central, the others appear to be from the same time although the Studio appears to have a 10" speaker rather than a 12". I need to order a schematic and since I don't see one listed for the Eighty-Five, I am trying to determine if the Studio or Deluxe would be similar.
