Hi I am new to these forums, was wondering if anyone could help.

I just bought the Fender hot rod deluxe III valve amp. Great sound but when I run my mods through the preamp I get a fairly loud humming noise. The sound is fine when i run through the main input so there's no cable or effects pedal issue.

I saw another forum about this but nothing appears to have been resolved. Any help is hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Exactly what pedals are you running in the loop?

preamp out to a Boss Super Chorus pedal, then I mono out to a Vox time delay pedal, then into the EVH phase 90, back to the power amp in.

Suggest you try each pedal one at a time in the loop. If each pedal is quiet on its own, then try different combinations of two in the loop to see if there is a hum. Also, if you are using a separate power supply for each pedal, try running the pedals on 9 volt battery power. You clearly have a ground loop problem being caused by some pedal combination or a power supply problem.

One thing you can try (it SOMETIMES WORKS)... if you find the culprit(s) that is inducing the loop --- try reversing the wall-wart to AC outlet (power transformer driving the pedal). Most are two-prong and can be easily done. Hope that the cure is an easy fix!

Yup, good next step. Another option is a single decent power supply that handles all your pedals. I have a small board. I use this supply:

Thanks I will give all this a try, the power supply I am using is a voodoo lab pedal power 2, so I don't think the supply source itself is a problem. Could you elaborate on this wall-wart to AC thing as I'm not sure what that means,? Sorry I'm fairly new to all this sort of thing.

Since you are not using wall wart power supplies, this should not be a concern. In any case, all BMW2002Ti meant is that since most wall warts are only two prong, it sometimes helps to flip them upside down so that the two prongs plug into different sockets in the outlet than when installed right side up. If you look at a wall wart, you'll understand what he was talking about.
