I live in an apartment and I dearly want a Deluxe Reverb.

Let's say I would be playing with volume on 4 trough a Jet City Isolation Cabinet, would that be enough to completely eliminate the sound? I need 0 decibels!

What are the decibels outputted by a Deluxe Reverb?

I'm trying to avoid having to buy a Palmer PDI-03.

I don't think you could get any amp down to zero dB, unless you use headphones. A DRRI is a pretty loud 22-watt amp.

The loudness capability of an amp depends on both the power rating and efficiency (sensitivity) of the speaker.

The DRRI is rated at 22 watts. Assuming a typical speaker efficiency of 100 dB SPL @ one meter, then the output of the DRRI would be as follows:

1 watt = 100 dB SPL
2 watts = 103 dB SPL
4 watts = 106 dB SPL
8 watts = 109 dB SPL
16 watts = 112 dB SPL
22 watts = about 113 dB SPL

That's pretty loud.

I have an inexpensive decibel meter from radio shack. Just the other day I measured 124 dB with the DRRI volume at 8-10, guitar at 10 and the meter about 3 feet away. I was looking for the max level I could get so I didn't measure it at lower volume positions.

For me, the sweet spot on the DRRI is at about 5-8 on the volume and this was showing 95-110 dB depending on guitar volume and the exuberance of my picking/strumming. This is still picture shaking loud and as a consequence I only play the DRRI when I am at home alone. It does sound good at lower volumes but if you need to keep it down for the neighbors, I don't think the DRRI is a wise choice. Really you need to use headphones because even at 5 watts the Champ 600 is loud when you crank it.

I seriously doubt that you measured 124 dB SPL with the DRRI cranked at 3'. That level is equivalent to the stage volume of a live rock concert and would require an audio output of about 256 watts. 110 dB SPL is believable with the amp cranked wide open.

Thanks for the correction. I did not mean to spread misinformation. I guess that's what I get for buying a cheap meter.

No problem. I have one of the old analog Rat Shack SPL meters which I prefer over the digital ones.
