I just bought a Fender Deluxe VM and the sound is amazing, I'm using in a home studio. I was recording a guitar and I noticed that there is a noise like hum or hiss... I'm using a Yamaha guitar with 2 single pickup.

I tried to do this...
- I turned on my amp and there is no noise, there is just a little noise when I turned it up to the top volume.
- I plugged in my guitar with no volume, and there is no noise.
- I turned my guitar up, and there is a noise, but it decrease when I touch the strings...The noise is increased when I switched the drive.
- I just plugged in the cable (without guitar) and there is a noise, but it stopped when I touch the sleeve, not the tip.
- I bought a DI, but the noise is still there.

I would like to know if this is normal? or maybe is my cable or my guitar?

Noise in coming from the guitar ,it is your guitar is an antenna . Bur why ?

Have you a good ground on the home wall outlet ? What kind of light on you room ? neon , halogen ? Those can make noise. Turn everything OFF . just your amp ON and try.

Try another guitar .
What do you mean by ....." bought a DI....." DI ??? Direct Input ?

Yes, it is a direct input...

Let me try what you're advise to me.
I have another guitar, it is new... I have the same problem... Could be the cable? I have the amp connected to a power conditioner to avoid the voltage variation, I think that is not a problem because I tried the amp without using it...

Yes try another guitar cable. You should do that before no ?
Noise with guitar ; try another guitar you know is quiet , and try another cable you know is good.

DI ?? you bought a direct input . What gadget is that ?

I have a deluxe reissue, and get a popping sound when I touch the strings, years ago, on the old amps, I'd flip the ground switch, and the noise would go away, with new grounded plugs, that's not possible, also, no polarity switch on the Blues deluxe reissue :(

any other suggestions other than what has been proposed?

Your Deluxe reissue have same hiss than Pepu13 's amp ! And you never find how to fix ?

That is the purpuse of ground plug ; you don't need ground polarity switch .......if you home wall outlet is well grounded . And your amp's ground plug is not defective of course.

If you have an electric stove working on 220 volts ( in your Kitchen) with an outlet on panel board you can use this outlet to test. It is alway grounded.

Hello Stratele52,

Let me tell you some results about some changes...

I bought some cables (they have a legend that says: low noise cable) no more than 3mts
I installed a ground in my room, I didn't have one...

With these changes... The noise is still there...

I checked my ampli with a microphone and, guess what? It didn't make any noise... I think is the guitar... have you ever heard anything about the single coils?... Unlike the humbucker coils...somebody told me that those single coils generates a lot of noises.... do you know sth about it??

Thank you

I also noticed that when I drop the cable to the floor... it sound like a small microphone, the amp sounds when I hit the cable with my hands or my foot...

Do you think a noise gate could help me?

Did you try what I write nov 20 ?

" Yes try another guitar cable. You should do that before no ?
Noise with guitar ; try another guitar you know is quiet , and try another cable you know is good. "
____________________________________________________________________________

This is not a rocket science ;
1- Trye a guitar you know it is not noisy.
2- Trye your Yamaha guitar in another amp.

Yes single coil is little bit noisy but there is not a problem for normal playing but for recording could be noisy .
