I have a Fenders USA Blues Deville that I purchased back in 1995. It has two 12" speakers. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Custom Ace Frehley Budakan addition

What do I need to set my amp to get ACDC sound?

does Kiss play at the same settings?

Thanks a million. Glad I found this forum

I have no experience playing through that exact amp, but I suspect it will need some help to get a sound similar to AC/DC. Perhaps a distortion pedal...

I have good distortion between the amp and pickups in Les Paul. There's got to be a way to set the amp up unless I do need a pedal

For ACDC, it's not that much distortion - it's grit. Try backing way off your gain and you'll find you get a lot closer. Pedal for solo.

For KISS, guessing you'd need more gain.

You're never going to nail either sound exactly, so don't bother; tweak the dials to where it sounds good to you and learn to play the songs. Ace and/or Malcom and Angus could sound exactly like themselves through your gear - 80% of their sound is in their hands.

nedorama nails it...

you'd get closer to the tones they are getting with a Marshall, but you shouldn't be rushing out to buy one unless you have an interest in owning a tubed Marshal. It will be more int he ball park, but that said, most if it really is in the hands..

I'm sorry but there is way more to tone than the players hands - fingers might be 10% of a persons tone afaic, it makes a small difference but it isn't the end all be all when it comes to the total package. Tone has everything to do with the quality of the instrument - wood, electronics, pickups, set-up, and even finish. It also has a lot to do with the cables, effects, amps, and so forth that are used. Would you be able to perfectly nail AC/DC tone if you had Angus' rig? Absolutely. Is there a difference between tone and talent, you bet. The tone might sound the same, but the technique would drastically differ. That is where you can tell the difference between players. My buddy can plug into my amp and play my guitar and the tone will be for the most part there, but the technique is different and you can tell a diff person is playing - 10%.

Back on point - you can get close by cutting the gain, pushing the brightness of the amp by bumping up the mids and highs while cutting the lows a bit. At the end of the day though, you're asking a Les Paul loaded with a Dimarzio Super Distortion played through a blues deville to sound like a Gibson SG with a hot PAF played through a Marshall JTM45/Plexi. Night and day - there is a huge difference alone in the guitars. the SG and Les Paul are totally different sounding machines, about as drastic of a change in tone as they are in appearance. SG - bright and bitey. Les Paul - dark/growly and thick.

Your amp can prob ball park the marshall tone, but the Les Paul isn't going to let you nail Angus's tone.

Isn't the easiest way to mimic a particular guitarist is through programmable stomp boxes and patches? You'll get close, maybe not all the articulations unique to each axe master. Then, hope the darn box doesn't dump its memory half-way through a set.

Just my 2¢ worth of a penny.

I've been messing with gains and distortion and I've come to find the best sound is to crank the volume without distortion. Actually it's a clean sound with feedback. Sounding pretty good now

Have you tried tuning down as AC/DC does?
