I ended up buying a brand new Frontman 25R from AMS a couple of days ago along with a Eminence Rajun Cajun 10" Speaker, which I planned to install in it. Reason why I bought all this was, I have a Champion 30 combo which I've been having some problems with and I had ordered some parts from Music Parts Guru, which I was going to install in the amp, so I could restore it. Well, it turns out that now, the transformer on the champion 30 completely died out, so I bought those parts for nothing.
Anyway, the new amp and speaker came in yesterday and after making the speaker change on the frontman, the difference was immediately noticeable in both sound and volume. I can crank the volume without having it break up at high volumes which these are notorious for, and the gain sounds absolutely great ! It now sounds more like a 50 watter than a 25 watt combo and I'm loving it ! Fender should make these Rajun cajun speakers mandatory as part of the Frontman 25R Combos IMO.

Yeah, I have a Ragin Cajun in my Frontman 25R too. Love the clean sound.

That's what I said as well. I did the same speaker exchange, and am so very happy with!
Full sound, more headroom, richer bass! Frontman is a great SS amp, with poor speaker.
Bought a SCX2 head that runs too through this Ragin Cajun (from time to tim) and sounds incredible!
The old Fender speaker is now in a home made box, and run an Orange Micro Terror through it. Guess what? Sounds good!

I sold the Frontman 25R speaker last night to a friend of mine for $15.00. I don't believe in throwing anything away and, he said he'll put it to use. As far as my old champion 30 is concerned, I'm going to contact Music Parts guru and see what they can do for me as far as a transformer is concerned. If they can get me one, I'll buy it and put it in. That should take care of that problem , but meanwhile, my FM 25R is sounding just awesome with that Eminence in it. It ain't going nowhere !!!!

Ragin Cajuns are good. I have two of those and two of the Eminence Legends in my Blues Deville 410.
I recorded a song miking the setup with sm57's one on one of the Ragin Cajuns and one on one of the Legends..

I ended up giving the old Champion 30 to my upstairs neighbor who also plays guitar. He said he knows somebody who can fix it and once it's done, he'll give it back to me. I told him, don't bother, you can have it. My new Frontman 25R with the Rajun Cajun in it, is a friggin beast . I use a Digitech RP-50 effects processor and because of that speaker, I only have the volume on the pedal on 10 and the amp on 1. That alone, has the walls in my house shaking !!!! On RP processors, the volume goes up to 99, so you can imagine how loud that is.

Those Frontmans are nice, and Eminence really hit a home run with the Patriot and Redcoat series in my opinion. I went with the Lil Buddy in my Champion 110 and I'm a huge fan. It has more balls than the stock 12" speaker in the Princeton 112, better cleans, better distortion, maybe a touch less chimey sounding but I don't care. Overall a big win. Enjoy.

There is some very interesting and detailed info at http://fenderguru.com/ about fender amps and the right kinds of speakers and why. The early breakup of stock Fender speakers can be very desirable when low volumes are preferred. This will usually be in recording situations. For performance, the stock speakers often "peak" too early. There is plenty to choose from as far as mods go. So many, that it can be overwhelming to choose. There are a lot of speakers that are very close but only subtlety different in tones. Price points are another consideration. Eminence has a lot a good speakers and employing Americans is a good selling point for me. Lil Buddy caught my ear and Legend was good too. Ragin' Cajun has the closest thing I am looking for. All of this is personal taste and that is a good thing, IMO.

A very interesting point made at fenderguru was the ohmage tolerance of Fender amps. The guy there stated quite emphatically that Fender amps can go half or double their rated ohmage without risking damage. Therefore an 8 ohm amp can tolerate both 16 or 4 ohm loads without worry. I am only carrying info and am not speaking with any authority.
There is a company that has really good 10" speakers for 45 dollars, 2" voice coils and 98db ratings. They come in 4,8 and 16 ohms. These babies weigh 9 lbs. each. So, they may be too good for a guitar sound. That said, a 4 ohm speaker would let a SCX2 really scream and with either pedals or onboard overdive/fuzz to crank it, things could get interesting.

Of course, warranties be toast. Just thinking out loud. SCX2 does sound amazing with the stock speaker. Others do say swapping out the speaker just makes it better. Oh, the demons in my head, LOL.
