Hello,
New to this site ! Couple questions Concerning My blues deluxe amp.
1st. The amp has started making noise !! This happens about 30 minutes
after power up. The sound becomes distorted then slowly drop out. I looked for
loose wiring (ribbon cables ) and and solder joints but nothing seemed to help.
I started to move the preamp tubes and found that if I push up on the tubes..... Any
pre's and power tubes, the noise goes away and the sound comes back. OK.... I believe it's the circuit board but would appreicate any feedback.
2nd. My amp doesn't have a bias trim pot on the board. Considering adding this so I can bias different tubes for a more select sound. anyone know of a DIY kit or actual parts list for this mod.
Thanks in advance
Tom

Reflow the tube socket solder joints.

Just remove R87 (27K) and replace with a 25K pot in series with a new 10K to 15K resistor, both pot and resistor should be at least 1/4 watt, and a 1/2 watt will also work. Solder one end of the pot to it's wiper and connect that same end of the pot to one end of the new resistor. Connect the unused end of the pot to one of the holes where R87 was, and connect the unused end of the new resistor to the other hole where R87 was. You can use any type of pot, but you will get a more precise bias adjustment by using a multi-turn pot, such as the one in the link below.

Hi,
Im happy to say my fender blues deluxe (1993) is up and running. That said ! I need advice on a couple issues that could cause me a problem down the road. Background ! The last issue was no sound. Like so many others my circuit board was burnt along with resistors R-85 and R-86. I read through the forums and found these were suppose to be 470 ohm resistor. I replaced them only to find R-86 board trace was just to far gone. This is where I need your expert advice..... I bypassed the trace from the cap to the resistor with the new resistor ( didn't use a wire). I had to do the same off the r-86 resistor to the diode. I have the correct voltages reading ( -46Vdc on one end of the resistor (R86) & -16 Vdc on the other.
the same on (R85) only with a positive 46Vdc on one end & +16Vdc on the other.
I checked the diodes ( reading for both) 0.585. I read in the forum these should read above 0.650 ! OK...... Big ? Why are the power resistors so hot ? is it the diodes or the way I bypassed the burnt board traces. Please note : the amp sounds great ! Just concerned about the heat off the resistors. Thanks for any help in advance.
