Hi there
I have had my Super-Sonic for a few weeks. The capabilities of this amp seem endless. I am interested in contacting anyone with the same amp to find out how you “use yours” I am in between bands at the moment and have only been able to play the amp at bedroom levels. The next time I am invited to either play or jam with anyone I don’t want to spend a lot of time at the gig getting a sound, so any advice I can get will be most welcome.
The first thing that strikes me is the difference in volume between the “Bassman” and the “Vibrolux” I have read that this is the way it is, does anyone know differently? I also find the sound of the Vibrolux quite thin but that maybe just down to the volumes I am having to play at. I am thinking of getting a boost pedal to lift the volume of the Vibrolux and maybe thicken it up a bit, giving myself a possible 3 channels of heaven. Has anyone tried this? I am using a Strat through a compressor and a flanger (in line) is it better to use the effects loop?
The range of sounds that can dialled into the burn channel seems infinite. I just don’t know where to start. I am interested to hear from anyone with any suggestions, hints, tips etc. Hopefully I can find somewhere to “Let it rip” and things might become clearer.
I usually play Bues/Rock with the odd bit of country
Thanks in advance for your time.
Regards

I am a fairly new Supersonic owner and, like you, is still trying to figure out how to use it.

I don't try to switch between the amps. I think of it as three different amp modes, not three channels. If I switch from Vibrolux to Bassman, the tone controls are all wrong.

I love the burn channel. I may just be able to turn the gains down and play just the burn channel. Boost and dirt with an OD. (Get a Bad Monkey).

This weekend I played 50s era rock and country. For this I used the Vibrolux channel. I put a compressor, and an overdrive in front of it. I turned the output of the OD down to 9 Oclock. This gave me a reasonable volume for the usually loud Vibrolux channel. I turned the guitar down for a rhythm tone, leaving me room to turn up for solos.

The tone I got with this setup was bright, shimmering, with cut. The compressor really tightened the rhythm response giving me a rig that plays itself.

I sometimes put the compressor through the effects loop and use it's output knob like a master volume. I am undecided where I like it better.

I have a question for you. On the Burn channel, I find that the amp does not like being pushed too hard. With the gains up, I have to turn my guitar volume down to dial in a sweet spot. Sure, all amps are like this to an extent, but I can't use my pedals with the burn channel like I do with other amps.

You have this problem?

First of all .. Thanks for your reply.
I can appreciate what you say about seeing the Super-Sonic as 3 seperate amps but I would like to be able to change from one to another if I wanted to. It may be impractical to work the amp in this way but if anyone has tried it I would like to hear from them.

I am quite happy with using my effects pedals on the burn channel, BUT, as I have not had the chance to turn the amp up to anything like a gigging volume I cannot be certain.

cheers

Using a Les Paul I use the neck pu on the Vibrolux and bridge pu for bassman. I set all volume and tone controls on guitar and amp. So iI set the volume on guitar bridge pu lower than the neck pu, hit the footswitch and toggle on the guitar. It works for me. I get close to the same volume on both amp modes... good luck.

I've got an old TS9 that really makes the Burn channel (with both gains on 8+) really sing for leads. This is with the volume cranked at around 4.
