Hello, I'm having a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue Amp and I'm wondering what the best settings are when playing on a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster. Because when playing with all the amp settings in the middle, it doesn't sound well, there is too much bass in it. Does anyone have any ideas on this ?

"Optimal" is a matter of individual taste. I actually prefer a bassier tone for certain things. In your case just turn up the treble and maybe try clicking the "bright" button on your Deluxe. Also use your tone controls on the guitar.

Hey congratulations man it's a sweet little setup! I have the same gear too and I'm loving it. I find that the sounds are quite bassy but I kinda like that about it. I like a bit of low-end thud sometimes!

I usually start off by setting mine to around 5,7,5 for treble, mid, bass and with the presence up a little, usually around 4-5 too, but I tweak that from time to time as I'm discovering new sounds in there and exploring a lot.

I find that a little lift in the mids gives it a little more throat and seems to tighten the low end up, for me anyway!

I also find the SCN pickups have quite a high output which will drive the amp slightly harder, so you could try the low input to clean it up a little.

It's quite a versatile amp and the guitar it very versatile too - you have a lot to play with! :D

I know a lot of guitarists who like to set the eq on an amp to 12 o'clock to preserve the guitar sound as much as possible, but I've found that with this particular amp the preamp is a little out of the ordinary and so experimentation is a must. It's sort of a vintage style amp with some modern advantages, so it's voiced in a special way to give an old fashioned, bluesy, retro character. I find it requires a different mindset or perspective - like I said I'm still experimenting myself so I'm still getting used to it all!

It also responds to your playing style A LOT!!! How hard you dig in will definitely be translated through the amp - also fun to play with!!!

But think "simplicity"! Too bassy? Try cutting the bass or boost the treble, mids etc. Might be what you are after, might not! But it is a good place to start!

Whatever you do I hope it works and you enjoy your new toys as much as I'm enjoying mine! Congratulations again, I'm sure you are going to come to love your new gear soon!

Good luck and have fun!

I have the same amp. I also find it to bassy even with the bass all the way off and bass and treble on 7 or 8. The best way around the problem for me was to add a pedal with EQ before the preamp input. Cut the bass before it gets to the amp. An EQ pedal would be ideal. Also get it up off the floor. Even if only a foot or so. Thats all have to say about that.

+1 to getting the amp off the floor. For gigging I always use mine on a stand that lifts it about 18" off the floor and this cuts the bass down just fine.

If you need to cut through a mix more definitively, try jacking your presence control up a notch or two.

+1 on getting the amp off of the floor -- that acoustically de-couples the cabinet from a larger low-frequency radiating surface (the floor or band riser).
