First off, Love my Fender Blues Deville (2x12), the Sound I get is perfect for my Neil Young Tribute Band, I get perfect Neil Tones...just one annoying problem.
She Keeps blowning Tubes.
Now just trying to figure if it's being caused by Transport (Shaking around?) or something with the Amp that maybe someone else has experienced? It's been serviced since I've had it, bought it second hand and I always have Backline in Vancouver do a complete check on my Gear...found nothing wrong.
Or hey, if it wasn't for bad luck.....??
Any help would be great regarding this...
Running Fender (5881's) and JJ Tubes (12AX7's) with The POD running thru Effects Loop and Volume is never above 5 on either Channel with Drive never more then 10.
It's the 12AX7's that keep going...try a new brand solve this ya think?
Thanks for reading.

You said your gear has been checked frequently. Do you know if your bias is right, maybe their overlooking it?

That's about all I can think of. Unless your riding it pretty hard.

Been reading thinking about the Bias question and I keep finding info saying the Blues Deville 2x12 doesn't need that but I have no knowledge of that so I can't say for sure if they checked it.
This is the Second Tube in as many Months.
I tend to keep the Output of the POD Lower then the actual Amp when it's bypassed meaning, when the POD is set to Tuner the Amp Volume is actually Louder then when the POD is being used as Stomp Boxes only (I don't use it for Modelling).
Driving it too hard that way with the Settings I mentioned you think?
Never had trouble before running other Amps this way.
Thanks for suggestions so far...all and any are great, thank you.

I'm not sure that the effects going into the amp are causing it to drive too hard, unless your amp volume is really high and you keep the volume down with other things. But if this was the case I'm sure you would notice what's happening.

On the other hand, there is probably just something wrong inside the amp somewhere causing these problems. Your best bet would be to just take it to someone (other than the guy you've been using) and tell them exactly what's happening. A good amp tech can pinpoint the cause.

Have the resistors checked. I just had mine done. It fixed the problem. Make sure the tech knows the problem. Call Erin at Ridenhour Music in Roanoke VA. I don't know the number. Google it. He will tell you. He is a wiz.

The bias shouldn't effect the preamp tubes, just the power tubes.

Actually the preamp tubes have their own bias, it's seperate from the power tubes and they rely on cathode resistors.

If he'll take it in to somebody they can check these.

I may be wrong, but I have never had the bias adjusted on preamp tubes in the 40+ years I've owned tube amps.

I don't know that much about'em, just from what I've read here and there, but I don't think they can be adjusted, I think they have to be replaced when they "drift off" from their original setting.
