I am currently working on my friends Blues Deville and he had no sound coming from it. I replaced the tubes with a matched set and also both of his screen resistors. Both blown!
"I recently worked on my Hotrod Deville and replaced the tubes and the screen resistors and it worked great on mine."
He has sound again but even with the volume all the way up on the clean CH it isn't very loud and has a scratchy gruff sound.
I found that on C35 and C42 "these two are in the circuit paralell with each other" that there was only approx 230 volts which is about half of what should be there. The other 4 caps in the circuit have twice that much voltage. I checked the plate resistors R85 and R86 and they are both good. Ihave just finihed with touching up the solder points on the entire board.
p.s. C45 has a small dusting of white powder on the pos side of the cap. But it is one of the ones that shows good voltage. I will probably replace
it since it is obviously going to need it.
Anyone have any suggestions on what might be the problem?
Thanks.

Are the solder joints on the tube sockets ok? Did any traces lift?

I checked and touched up on the solder joints. I have alot of experience on soldering small components so I feel comfortable about that.
I am concerned at this point that this one is going to be stubborn.
I was wondering what the vltage should be on the caps- C35 & C42.
Does that voltage sound right? Power amp circuit?
I'm new to the world of tubes. But love the challenge!
Is there any info on the web as good as the site for the Hot Rod Deville?
Thanks!

chipsimpson, there is another forum www.thefenderforum.com that has a quite a few amp builders/gurus there that are glad to help. They are extremely technical and know many amps inside and out.
