Hello, everyone. I am thinking about getting a 25R Frontman and I want to check your opinions about it first. There's another amp option I'm interested: Laney LV100. Which one do you prefer? Salutes.

The Frontman 25R is primarily geared toward home practice, it has a very nice clean sound. A very lush reverb, and a surprising amount of bass response from a 10" speaker. I actually traded a Fender Mustang II amp for a Frontman 25R at one point because I like the simplicity and sound of the 25R better than I liked the bells and whistles of the Mustang II. The gain channel is nothing to get excited over -- standard solid-state distortion -- which isn't terrible, but isn't great either. It's a great amp for the price. Its primary competitor is the Fender Mustang I, which is a different animal all together.

I used my Frontman 25R for rehearsals a couple of times, but it didn't really have enough power and push enough air to be well suited for that.

The Laney would give you more power and a bigger speaker which would be better for band rehearsals and gigs, in addition to home practice. I haven't ever heard one in person, so if you can plug into one somewhere, see what you think.

Thanks for your opinion, dude. I guess it's pretty much it: 25R has a good clean sound - and that's what I'm looking for -, but I'm afraid it would not be powerful enough for rehearsals and gigs. That's why I think I'll choose the Laney amp; I heard its clean sound and I fell in love with it, hahaha, and the 12" speaker would satisfy my needs. Salutes!
