Yes, I do indeed play the didgeridoo, I am actually in the midst of forming an experimental metal band locally and I will be playing the didge. However I only have some cheap, generic guitar and bass amps that just will not do. I need something pretty decent in the $300-$350 range. I was looking at possibly the Mustang III or Frontman 212R but other then reading up a little on those, i am no amp expert. I really want a Fender because of the sound quality they seem to have.

I also want to put the mic'd didge through a Line 6 POD HD500, though I am not entirely sure how more complex amps work with their effects loops and other jacks and such. So, what is a decent Fender amp for practice and maybe small gigs and how do i go about connecting the HD500 to the amp? Sorry if that's a nub question but I have looked online not to much avail for some reason. Maybe I just wasn't looking in the right places.

Anywho i hope someone can help me out and give me some suggestions.

Hi MX5J6,

As far as connecting the HD to amp, it's fairly simple. One way is to connect the guitar/mic into the HD input, and connect the HD output to amp input jack. Or another way is to connect guitar/mic to amp input jack and connect amp loop out (send) to HD input, and HD output to amp loop in (return). One way might sound better than the other.

Instrument amplifiers are made to produce/create sound, not reproduce sound. If you want to keep the sound of the didgeridoo, maybe a PA amp would work better.

Thanks for that information. =] So what is the main difference between PA amps or speakers and guitar/bass amps?

Reproducing sound as opposed to producing/creating sound. A PA/monitor amp is more like a home stereo, made to keep the input sound the same and only amplify it. Instrument amps will shape the signal of the instrument and create the sound as well as amplify it. Note that most times, playing recorded music through a guitar amp sounds terrible as compared to playing the same music through a music amp or PA/monitor amp, even with the PA/monitor type amp in mono. BTW, the HD might be a bit much to use just for the didgeridoo.

I agree, for gigging/live situations, shimmilou hit it right on the head. However, if you're still interested in a small, economical, multi-purpose amp for home practice. Might I suggest the Excelsior. It's in your price range and has 3 inputs to help you select a more appropriated sound for your instrument(Guitar, Mic, Accordion). It's possible that one of those inputs might give you what your looking for. It's alway best to try it out first though.
Good luck.

Ok so I guess I have a few options. Here is what i was thinking.

I am looking at the Fender Mustang III, Fender Frontman 212R or Fender Rumble 150. Now I can eother get one of these and a multi effect processor (The mic I want to use needs a Phantom PSU so the processor will need to have an XLR connection to put my mic through it).

Or if I get a PA system would I still need a processor since I was looking at a system with a mixer? I don't know what kinds of things a mixer can do, compared to a processor?

Or I could possibly get an amp and maybe skip the processor and get a nice aftermarket amp head?

I don't know much about amps so some of these questions and ideas may be wrong or easy to answer but any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Many modern mixing boards (both powered and non-powered) now feature an extensive array of on-board effects. I'm not sure what you have in mind for that didgeridoo but you might consider that when shopping.
