I like the sound of that amp too! A little more bite to it.

Work overtime, work overtime, work overtime...

I've been checking out the 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue as well. Also looks like one hell of an amp that also can take pedals well. I must admit that I've always wanted a really good Fender Tube amp so I am definitely leaning heavily towards the DRR or the Supersonic. Decisions decisions!

My vote goes for the 65 DRRI. Unless you can get your hands on an original Deluxe Reverb.

Now that is negative thinking. Somebody on here just got a $200 Princeton Reverb. Sure it needs a little work, but that will be much less than the PRRI would cost.

Now, if you MUST have it tomorrow? Forget the vintage gear because that is a waiting game.

The new amp will drop in March. Second hand Deluxe Reverbs and Supersonics are very rare in the second hand market here in Ireland, even ones that are only a couple of years old. Vintage amps and Guitars are something you would have to take out a mortgage on to get your hands on here. There are specialized stores that will charge outrageous prices and right now, it's not something I can afford. The amp I get in March will be a new amp as this is the only way that I can get the deal where I only have to pay €100 a month as I have mentioned at the beginning of this thread. I have no cash up front for the full cost of the amp. I have a band that will be going on the road early next year so time is a factor as well.

Didn't realize that you were at 100/month. Thought it was 1,000 overall. In that case, I would go for the DRRI unless you get lucky and find a vintage musician who is retiring.

Bargains occur only when preparation intersects with opportunity.

Ok, change of plan......

I was in my friend's Guitar shop to pick up my T-REX Fuel Tank Classic, he showed me a Marshall JVM Joe Satriani Signature amp he's just been offered for a discount. Because of this, he was planning to sell the amp he was currently using for gigs. He has an Ampeg GVT15-112 All tube Guitar amp. A lovely little 15 watt combo that you can dial down to 7.5 watts for use in the house. It has 2 12AX7s and two 6V6GTs. I asked him if I could take it with me for a couple of days to try it out and he said Ok. When I got home tonight, I tried out all three of my Electric Guitars with it. My Gibson ES-335, 52 AVRI Tele and my Classic Series 50s Strat. It was basically Guitar/cable/amp. Well, it was tone heaven. I just couldn't believe it. Where had this tone been all my life. Looks like it's going to set me back €500 to €550 but it's worth it. I will use this amp in the house, in the studio and onstage. It's teeny tiny.

I had forgotten about those, but I've been told they are excellent amps. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks. :)

It's made me have a think about the whole use of pedals. Just using the on board EQ, Gain and Reverb I was able to get the most incredible tones out of this map with the Guitar plugged straight into it. I have some thinking to do..........

+1

Stompboxes can be amazing tools but it's easy to be overwhelmed by a large complex pedalboard.

Simple is good.
