To the people in the know...tried to hook up a pair of 16 ohm boxes to my HRD Mk II(one in each output) and she don't seem to like it.Anyone else tried with success? Will try to hook them up in parallel out of the usual output jack which will take me back to 8 ohms. The output tranny not configured for 16ohm loads?
Thanks all, have a nice day!

The HRD has both 8 ohm and 4 ohm taps. The owner's manual shows acceptable speaker connections.

When you connect a speaker to each of the output jacks, you are utilizing the 4 ohm tap. Clearly the output tranny does not like two 16 ohm speakers connected to the 4 ohm tap. Your best bet would be to wire both cabs in parallel giving you 8 ohms. Then you can use any of the options shown in the owner's manual for connecting speakers to the amp.
