howdy all. new person here. i have a question and i can't seem to find any answers anywhere. i recently purchased an evh 5150 iii 50 watt. there is a very distinct volume difference in channels 1 and 2 when switching between the two, to the point that i can't really use the two of them together. meaning, channel 1 is the clean channel and if i am using this at a volume that is usable, when i switch to channel 2 it is much too loud compared to 1. is this intentional? is there any kind of a fix for this without buying additional equipment?

that is all. thanks for any help.

Well, first of all, this is a Fender amp forum. Just because Fender owns EVH doesn't mean that most people here will know much about the EVH amps.

Secondly, looking at the schematic,

http://support.evhgear.com/schematics/E ... matics.pdf

I see several places where switching relays alter the signal path depending on whether channel 1 or channel 2 is selected. Without doing a complete circuit analysis, I would guess that those changes are going to alter the relative gain of the two channels. Seems to me your amp is working as designed.

Donnie, that amp has volume controls on every channel. Surely that's all you need to balance the volumes between the channels, or am I missing something? I suspect that amp is meant to be screaming deafening in the gain channels. JMO

Channels one and two share gain and volume controls as shown in the schematic I posted. Channel three as its own controls and was not questioned.

My mistake, I was confusing the 50 watt w/the 100watt.

So I guess you'll need to use your guitar volume to compensate the jump if you feel it's too much.
