Hi there, i am a beginner playing guitar and have a 1995? Princeton chorus that was just taken in for repairs. Volume would cut out around level 4 on both clean and overdrive channels as well as a lot of static when turning the gain knob.
My question is, is this amp worth fixing our would my money be better spent on the Mustang 3? Ive been reading up on the M3 and it has lots of features that princeton doesnt. I play or try just in my home so there isnt any questions about gigging.
I enjoy all types of music from metal to jazz etc and currently own a strat and a esp ltd.
Any thoughts?

The mid '90s solid-state Fender amps were pretty solidly designed and built, and the Princeton Chorus was a standout (in terms of sales) for many years. But the fact of the matter is, there are many model-specific parts in it which are no longer available, such as the Panasonic bucket-brigade chorus module and the op-amp for the overdrive and reverb functions. Honestly, unless your amp has a very minor and easily repairable issue I wouldn't spend any serious money on it. Put it out to pasture and buy a new one.

Bear in mind that the Mustang amp you're contemplating will ultimately suffer the same fate......it's only a matter of time and the onward march of technology.
