I love my Super Sonic, but it's just too loud. For "bedroom" playing I basically need to keep it at a volume of about 1/2. When I have the volume so low the amp tends to hiss a lot.

When I use a Hot Plate the distorted channel lowers ok, but the clean channel distorts (even though the clean channel volume is at about 1). Not sure why that's happening...

When I put a jumper across the FX loop and reduce thhe volume via the FX loop controls I lose tone.

Any ideas? I'm thinking of maybe putting some resistance in series with the volume pots.

With the Super-Sonic, you have to learn to turn your guitar down. I put a jumper in the effects loop and tuen those pots down a bit.

I turn the guitar down, and turn the amp up. Clean channel maybe 1 to 3.

Then turn your guitar up slowly. Fiddling with the loop pots, guitar volume and amp volume, you should be able to get great clean tone with the guitar turned down and leas tone turned up.

Further tweaking, get an overdrive, Turn it all down. Turn on the OD with the output volume less than "12". As above, you should be able to dial in clean tone with the guitar turned down and turn the guitar up for solos.

I also like to put a compressor in the effects loop. I like the natural compression you get from cranking a tube amp. A compressor in the loop allows you to retain that snappiness at low volume.

An EQ in the loop works good as well.

On the burn channel, I have no problem dialing down to bedroom levels. Using my guitar volume pot, I get a wide variety of tones.

Forget about switching between Vintage and Burn mid-song. I don't think the amp was made for that. The setup for Vobrolux does not work the same on Burn. The volumes are all different. Think of it as three amps and learn how to use each of them.

Either way, experiment. Turn down your guitar.
