howdy yall. Ive been wanting to get a greta based almost entirely on looks and concept and despite a lot of bad reviews out there i finally picked one up. So right off the bat im going to say that this is a one trick pony. But im a one pony kind of guy. I have a superchamp X2 so i wasnt really looking for a do it all amp. what i find cool and interesting about the greta are as follows. 1 nice little practice amp. on the imaginary 1-10 voluime control at about 3 it gets a very nice sparkly clean tone on my strat that i can play in t kitchen while my kids watch a show in the next room. 2. very portable. if you can move a toaster easily you can move this thing. it sits very nicely on tabletops and counters where traditional shaped amps would prolly en up on the floor. no biggies here just little trhings. 3. versatility of connectivity. it has a speaker cab out that sounds very full when paired with my SC112 cab. the stock 4" speaker sounds ok to me for what it is but definitely is completely overdriven when dimed. sounds very smooth through a cab though when maxed out. it has a line in jack also that i like. so far i have plugged in my ipod and television at diferent times and it sounds good. i was having a tv night with some friends and wanted a little more sound then my tv stock speakers (no fancy surround sound sigh)when i plug the line out of the greta into my tech 21 power engine 60 it sounds AMAZING! with 60 watts solid state power through a 12" speaker the greta sounds like a killer vintage 20-30 watt tube amp. extremely sensitive to the dynamics of the player. I will prolly use this setup next time i gig. downsides?1 could have used a handle of somekind. im still breaking in my speaker and it is sounding a bit better all the time. it definitley overloads like crazy when dimed and i know a lot of folks out there wont like the sound of it. I like its on the verge of exploding sound.
I have not opened it up but it seems to be made solidly enough.

here is a link to a little vid i made on my first day having it. sorry the amp is not in the video. i had my 9 year old filming on my iphone. i will be making more fo sho that will show the sound and options a little better. note that im hangin out in the backyard with a strat and greta watching my kids play doing some strumming. i had it out there playing tunes while i was weeding and took a break and decided to practice a bit.

I was considering one myself. Sounds pretty good. Was that with the amp's little speaker, or was it connected to the 1x12?

Yeah that was the onboard speaker at around 4 on a 1-10 volume scale. I will be doing more sample vids this weekend hopefully. The stock speaker just explodes at high volumes. With the 12" it's much smoother. Cheers!

Here is a pic of a cool stereo setup I did yesterday with my superchamp X2 and a Greta plugged into a tech 21 power engine 60. I used an EHX stereo pulsar for the splitter. Its intense with the hard pan![img]http://s1272.photobucket.com/albums/y386/Andy_gutmonkey/?action=view¤t=0B3BE40B-B662-49E1-8884-F5A8C876D672-796-000001267D792303.jpg&evt=user_media_share[/img]

I'm not sure if that pic posted properly. I must have screwed it somehow. (Imagine that!)

The "IMG" code appears when you hover over a small picture, or is to the right of the picture when the picture is enlarged by clicking on the picture. Either way, just right click on the last code in the list, you will see "copied" appear, then paste the code into your post. The code is already book-ended with the IMG tags, no need to do anything except paste. Not sure why you have such a long list of numbers for the picture name.

using stock speaker a strat and an sm57. it was for a video song that will be on youtube later so ill post it when its live. Used a volume at maybe 3 out of 10.
also made a home vid using greta with a 112 cab. takes off the fizz and adds a bit of volume. i tried to make alot of sounds and generic styles so its not very coherent. anyways.
cheers

Did another vid today. Here is a sample of Greta on about 3/10 out to the sc112 cab with a boss ds-1 pedal modded by analogman played with a strat. The more I use the amp the more I like it. Even the stock speaker is starting to have some real sweet spots I like. Next vid will prolly be just Greta and guitar. Cheers

Thanks for the nice demos. That really gives a decent idea of the sound of the amp, all things considered. It really sounds very versatile, just use the controls on the guitar to get different sounds. Maybe even better sound with a different/better speaker too.

Thanks man! The amp really just does exactly what it looks like it should. I'll make a vid with the shock speaker next. I think you're right about the speaker cab. If I hac a vintage 30 or a greenback or shoot while I'm wishing an alnico blue or something it prolly would sound even better. I just couldn't believe so many of the reviews out there are hating on the speaker. It's a tiny 4" speaker Whachoo expect? Cheers
