Hi there,
Can someone help, I've just had my HDR III serviced, I was told that a full re soldering was done and all tubes replaced expensive but after 18 months of constant use it needed it ;-) any way when I plug in a distortion pedal and use the drive channel I still seem to get a strange whooshing sound, noise reduction gets rid of some of it but I dont want to rely on NR.
Another problem is after about 5 or 10 mins of use, I get a loud noise and see that it's switching between clean and drive channel.
Any ideas, do you think I will need to take it back to the shop where the service was done( supposedly this is a guy that all studios go to to fix their tube amps) or do you think it may be something to do with the footswitch.
Any way if anyone can help it would be appreciated
Tom

Might be too late depending or whether or not the shop that did the work was an authorized repair station. OP didn't say.

In any case, the orginal shop did not know what they were doing. Choice now is to take it back to them and tell them to fix it right at no charge (and keep your fingers crossed) or take it to a competent amp tech to be fixed correctly. If doing the latter, I would take their bill and demand the orginal shop refund your money.

Thanks for the replies guys, I've been told that the guy is the best in Glasgow, Scotland so decided to bite the bullet and pay the extra for a good service on the amp it was crackling all over and blowing the fuse, so got it fixed by replacing the 6l6's and a full reflow and the full service, this is what he said he'd done
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III Crackling
Replace o/c resistor 82k
Replace bias trimmer
Repair short circuit at PW4A
Reflow solders, various
Replace output valves

faulty now I'm just getting one crackle every so often. I've emailed the guy and explained but as yet no reply, I still have his invoice and it states there is a 6 month warranty with it so it's still within warranty as it was repaired in July.
it's typical though going into the studio this saturday to record a couple of tracks and will need to use one of their amps
I'll keep you posted
Tom
