So I have to admit I am a modulation freak and my present day pedal board has around $1500.00 worth of modulation effects and a few over drives. I went out on a whim and ordered a Zoom G5, so I can use it in my effects loop and it proved to be a home run. It will be replacing all of my modulation effects I have in my rig, so I will have two over drives and a compressor and the Zoom G5.

What a wonderful piece of equipment and very intuitive work flow. I sure hope the Fender guys can catch up with this one. I have a Fender Floor and it is nice, but lacks a little in flexibility, but the tone is really good for recording. I ran the Zoom G5 into my effects loop of my Egnater Tweaker 15 last night and it was just clean modulation madness. Some of the overdrives were even actually pretty good, but I like those in front of the amp instead of in the effects loop. I plugged the Zoom G5 into my Blues Deluxe and got the same results. Holy crap this thing is awesome. Nine effects that can be arranged in any order in the chain and each one can be switched off with it's own foot switch and you can use knobs to adjust the settings for each one. The acoustic simulator sounds great and it has a sixty second looper with drum tracks.

I will try to get some sound bites asap. I have to get my presets setup, which that part is pretty easy with a USB hookup and the Edit Share software or straight on the pedal. The way you have to switch the banks is a little awkward, but I usually only have around six or so presets that I like to setup.

I see some sleepless nights in my future. This thing is like Propellerhead Reason 6, in a pedal format.

I almost got the G3, but I really liked the additional bang on the Zoom G5. I still might get a G3, so I can keep all of my effects in one case, the G5 is a little to big for the case I have now. I have a huge pedal case that will hold it, but that is what I am trying to get rid of, just to much bulk. I also got the extra expression pedal for the G5, so I can control the volume with a separate pedal.

I had a Zoom G92tt and the G5 sounds a hell of a lot better with my tube amps.

I have the G2 and I use it in the same way (to do delay and modulation at the end of my chain).
They are great little devices and easy to use.
