Hey, I've just got a 65 Deluxe Reverb reissue amp and when I have the reverb amount control and the reverb pedal control set to off I can always hear a minimum of some of the spring reverb. Its like there is an amount (very small) of reverb passing through.

In a critical listening environment i.e. studio the amp sound includes audible amounts of reverb with everything reverb turned off .

If someone could help me to understand if this is a known characteristic with this amp or otherwise that will be much appreciated.

The amp sounds great, however not being able to get a completely clean sound is unexpected to me.

Probably a faulty switch or bad switch contact. Get some spray contact cleaner and spray the switch plug. Work the plug in and out of the jack. If that doesn't help, check the switch itself. It's not very complex. See the switch schematic by the reverb section in the amp schematic.

thanks for the reply Bill, it looks like you are suggesting this is not the way the amp should normally behave. I think it may be worth me investigating if the amp isnt working correctly, its 3 days old so I may need to return it if it has a fault.

When closed, the switch sends the reverb output to ground, so no, it shouldn't behave like that.

Still probably just a bad switch but seeing as the amp is brand new, take it back under warranty. Don't mess with the amp. Just return it if you are not happy.
