Hey, I just bought my first real amp, A DRRI FSR, the Bordeaux Blues one. A true dream come true for me. Everything looked great when I took it out of the box, I flipped the power on, kept it on standby for a minute, let the tubes warm up, power indicator shining brightly. Then flip the standby up and no pretty abbey road, no beautiful memphis, no reggae, just a beautiful DUD. The only thing I noticed was one 6v6 in the back doesn't light up, is this the problem? if so what do I do? what could the problem be? any help appreciated.

Make sure all the tubes are fully seated. They can sometimes vibrate loose during shipping. If that doesn't help, use your warranty. That's what its for. Return the amp to where you purchased it for repair (may just be a bad tube) or replacement. Preferably play the amp before you take it home.

Did you check the simple stuff, like a good cable and the guitar's volume up?

Assuming you did, I agree that it is likely the power tube. If that is the case it is actually not that big of a problem.

You might want to buy a spare set of tubes and swap it out. It's good to have that anyway, and if that is the problem you only have to return that for another tube, rather then the whole amp.

If that isn't it, I would exchange it for another one or get your money back. I wouldn't repair something this new.

Keep in mind that the tubes have a 90 day warranty. If it is a bad output tube, they will have to be replaced as a matched pair and the amp bias checked. The amp will still need to be returned to the place of purchase to be checked out as most shops aren't going to replace a pair of tubes without seeing/hearing the amp they came out of. I doubt they would have a tube tester to verify the tubes are bad. In any case, it is Fender's call whether to repair or replace an amp, not the owner's.

Ya I guess I just have to bite the bullet and send it back, it's a real gem though let me tell you, I wish it wasn't a limited edition, because now I have to keep it. I was thinking of just getting a new set of tubes, I was planning on a putting some miles on the stock tubes but I guess I could just look for a popular set of tubes for the deluxe reverb and try it.
