The new Vintage Guitar mag (June 2008 issue) has a picture of a new '65 Princeton Reverb amp in the Gearin' Up section. The very small news item says to "Learn more at Fender.com". I have waited for this amp for many years, and hope it's affordable and comparable to the original.

Hello Eldorado2001,

I couldn't learn anything here about it.
Could you possibly describe it, I think
many are interested.

Cheers.

I couldn't find anything at Fender.com either, the article is really just a mention of new product coming out soon. The small photo looks like the blackface Princeton Reverb amp (that sells on ebay for $1200 or more these days), the item says it uses 6V6 power tubes and features "the company's famous Reverb and Vibrato effects in a 15-watt platform. Learn more at Fender.com." I'll be watching the site for more information.

I also saw the ad in VG and I scoured the internet including all the Fender news releases, but couldn't find anything about it. The little VG ad is all there was, as far as I knew. I received the following email response to my question about the '65 Princeton Reissue this afternoon, from Fender Customer Relations:

"Hello,
Thanks for writing in. The article in the magazine is meant to be a
"teaser". Full details will be coming on that amplifier shortly. We
haven't released it yet, so we don't have any specs to give out at this
time. Keep an eye on www.fender.com for all of the latest news and
updates. Thanks again for writing in.

Best Regards,

Jeff Krause

So, kiddies, that's the scoop. I guess I will keep watching for it on Fender.com, as Mr. Krause suggested.

It's official...I have seen test drive reports on other forums about the new Princeton Reverb reissue.

Reissue at the New York Guitar Show last weekend, for street price of $799. Here's what I know

- blackface version
- 10 inche, Jensen P10R speaker
- PCB

Can't wait to test drive one !

Hello TweedDogSteve,

PCB, does that mean it's not a
hand wired model?

Cheers.

That's correct. And I'm glad it's PCB, it makes it more affordables to musicians like me. As in most tube amps from the Vintage or Pro Tube series, the tube sockets are mounted on the chassis, not directly on the PCB board (liek the Hot Rod series) - therefore if this new one is done the same way, I see no quality issues. The only problem with PCB is to a handfull of folks who would have liked to see a hand wired model to mod the hell out of it :)

I'm glad it's PCB also. That's in keeping with the TRRI, DRRI, SRRI and now the PRRI. Wouldn't have made sense to do PTP wiring. It would have pushed the price point beyond the DRRI. Good job Fender!!

Hello Giljanus,

That amp looks like a winner!

After watching that video I'm
gonna dig out the Tele.

Thanks for the link.

Cheers.

Hi everybody,

The '65 Princeton Reverb Amp, Vintage Reissue, is now in production in our factory in Corona, CA., USA.

We are launching ALL the web stuff, opening the flood gates, and shipping many of these nice new amps to dealers, starting Monday.

We are very proud of the video that Jim Campilongo did for us. Jim is a great guy, great player, and a true-blue ambassador for the Princeton Reverb Amp. I sent a "first production" amp to him a few weeks ago. He loved it, so we sent him to a video shoot to talk & play.

One important thing about this: it's not just for people who know how nice the old amps are. It's for anyone who loves TONE.

Thanks,
Shane

The amp is now live on the website -- click here to get to it. Also make sure you click the "Soundbites" button to hear it in action! (And, in this case, you'll get to see it in action to; we've posted a nifty clip featuring Jim Campilongo!)
