Yes, I have more questions. Sorry to bother yall again, but I trust you guys here more than most other sites. Actually, ALL other sites. Since I upgraded my main speaker to a CR, I still have the standard speaker sitting around collecting dust. I have read around on amps like the twin that guys like to mismatch speakers, IE, Texas Heat and Swamp Thang and I'm wondering how setting up the standard speaker would be with the CR.

Yea I know, try it and see, but enclosures are pretty expensive and I would hate to toss 2-$400 out the window if I don't like it. And I am sure someone out there has tried using a car audio cab. Admit it! :P

In order to five the external speaker a different sound, I'm thinking of a large volume closed back set up like this.

http://www.cartoys.com/products/product ... _Enclosure

Any thoughts, suggestions?

THanks!

There's a reason (probably several, actually) why these cabinets are cheap.

The specs aren't that impressive (MDF construction).

Might be OK for a trial run, but not long term use.

+1

Definitely not a "tactical" piece of gear.

I expected you two to chime in first. Experience and honesty is was what I was hoping for.

Maybe I should build my own cab. Unfortunately I live in an apartment and a table saw is out of the question. But I used to be a trim carpenter and built a few cabinets in my day. I has a Skill saw at work and with using clamps utilizing a straight edge, I can still probably run a pretty good 45 degree miter.

3/4" cabinet grade Birch ply, Titebond glue, brass screws and dark stain?

Why not just grab one of these......

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Blackface-style ... 46070becc1

It seems to be a quality-built enclosure made to basic Fender specs.

I'm smart enough to know I'm stupid. But I ain't afraid to ask questions of those who I think are much brighter than I. In a weird way, that's how stupid people get smarter. My Dad used to tell me, the way to intelligence is to have bigger ears than thy mouth, numbnutz.

His wisdom may of been spot on, but his delivery might of been less than "Sensitive".

If you have the skills, tools, materials, and facilities, you could always built your own......

They're not too difficult.

There are no stupid questions. There are, however, at least a few dozen stupid answers.

Seems like I've built stuff my whole life -- from speaker cabinets out of wood to scale models out of plastic. It's my "curse".
