Anybody using a Front Man 212? I got one recently and I am still playing with the controls to get the sound I want. One thing for sure, it is LOUD. I had been playing another brand 50 watt tube amp and I am having a hard time getting used to the difference in the sound. :?:

Do a search. There are plenty of threads on the Frontman 212R, both good and bad.

I agree...

I have the 65r and it too is LOUD! The thing with the Frontman amps is that the volume pots (both clean & dirty) have a serious "spike" in them. The sound will go from whisper quiet to HOLY &*@% really quick!!!

You have to play with the knobs for a while, and get them set just right, and then never touch them again. Frontman's are almost like a "set it and forget it" type of amp.

Great amp for the money. I think the reverb is lame and should be supplemented with a good reverb pedal.

I have one, and I like it. Being a solid state, it's lighter than most tube amps, and I use a Digitech RP-1000 to make it sound like a Fender Twin, Bassman or Deluxe Reverb - along with a ton of other amps. I don't concern myself with the built in reverb. In fact, I should see about taking it out and making the amp lighter yet.

Even though I really like it, I'm probably going to sell it or trade it for a Mustang III. They are loud, too, and they are even lighter. I live upstairs, so it is important for me to have a lighter amp. On the other hand, as much as I like it, I may just add the Mustang III and keep the Front Man. You never know when you might need an extra amp for some reason.

I already have a Mustang I, and it, believe it or not, is loud enough for most band rehearsals, jams, auditions, etc., and would probably be enough for a very small club. The thing is LOUD for what it is.

Clean is amazingly good considering the price. Takes a bit of tweeking to get the tone you want. But as far as the high gain channnels are concerned, forget it, pedals are the way to go. I paid £198 delivered (UK) and still use it if the venue involves stairs. I value my back too much to lug the Twin up flights of stairs.
