THIS ISSUE HAS NOW BEEN RESOLVED; See solution in blue italics

Just picked up my acoustasonic 100 today - severly disappointed with record function

When trying to use it to record.....

PC 64 bit (Win 7 -Ultimate)
2.4 GHZ
2 GB Ram
Software SONAR X1 with latest update D

PC picks it up as an Asonic Amp.
Shows in SONAR ok as recording device.

NB Fender Universal ASIO fails to install when downloaded from Fender site (UPDATE - fender support suggested a new admin account on my pc - worked fine the Fender ASIO installed, but i still had issues with sonar compatibility until i installed 'ASIO4all' drivers. thse worked perfectly)
But thats where the fun stops :?

I have to open up the amp volume to max to get a recordable signal albeit it is still very low in comparsion to using my usual interface. not great for the neighbours..... ( Update - resolved by increasing the gain within the software - perfecr recording levels achieved now)

The recorded sound is corrupted and plain awful. :( Update a change to ASIO4all solved that)
I love the specialsed acoustic voicing tone from the amp, but this for me was a major bonus to be able to record direct...

I have tried in my laptop (vista) with same SONAR software ; it does record without distortion but still verrrrry low levels coming through, not acceptable at all as a recording device..
NB doesn't show up at all in Audacity?(still doesnt but who cares?)

Any help ideas anyone PLEASE !!!!!

updated drivers? . firmware updates planned?

Otherwise it may just have to go back in to its box and return home. (Update- Not a chance - its staying put the acoustic tone options are excellent for my ear)
Havn't reviewed it yet - but will be doing very soon - Severly disappointed (Update - not anymore)Does it have to go back? (NO!)

FYI - See below comments on customer service that I experienced to resolve this issue
I'm impressed :D

Hi Mach13-13,

I would try different software first, maybe Sonar doesn't properly recognize the amp. Could simply be a driver issue.

Or contact Fender for support:

Thanx Shimmilou for your comment.. Seems you are onto something there (I hope)

I've been in touch with Fender Support UK, they are going to get back to me.

Useful to know tho - Seems i need to manually switch to ASIO drivers in settings which i've done. I installed the Fender ASIO from the download section but my PC would not recognise them properly. So still issues with that.
But
I installed 'ASIO4all' drivers and that seems to clear up the distortion but the sound is still very low without ramping up the amp itself.

I've found I can increase the gain within SONAR to raise the volume, but the input signal is still so low that it can't produce worthwhile wave forms for editing.

I'll see what the tech guy comes back with.

If I get a solution i'll post it.

Just want to comment on Fender support regarding this issue

Not withstanding that more info could be avialble on ASIO drivers for the Acoustasonic either in the manual or the support pages, tech support has been exceptional.

I phoned UK tech support earlier this week. they took my details and phoned me back with some options to try later the same day. plus the guy said he'd been in touch with colleagues in the US and that although they dont do tech support for SONAR compatibilty they would see what they could come up with and try calling call me direct.

Yesterday I got a call in the evening for a tech guy in the US. Giving me more ideas to try in the first instance together with a method of continuing to get help if it din't work.

I think that's pretty exceptional :D

A big THANKS
I appreciated it.

Maybe the problem has to do with the Windows version.

I used my 150 Acoustasonic with my older PC ( Windows XP 32 bit) and the PC recognized the amp and it worked fine.

A week ago I bought a new PC ( Windows 7 64 bit ) and it recognize the amp, but i have problems recording from it.

This can be a setup problem I have to solve, but it can also be because the driver doesent work in Windows 7 64 bit. ( Maybe someone know?)

Like to hear if anyone have succes with recordin in Windows 7

Well worth trying the ASIO4all drivers; a google search will bring up their website.

I have downloaded the ASIO4all driver, but still haven´t got it to work.

I tried to start my old PC wich run Windows XP, and on this machine I can record from the Acoustasonic.

I have seen Fender also have a series of amplifiers which use a software called Fuse, don´t know if that will work with the Acoustasonic.

If it helps at all - Fender recommended I create a new 'admin user account' on my PC and then try re installing the drivers.

I set one up for all my recording activity and the drivers installed fine. tho i did find that i had to do some 'Preferences' tweaking to use the ASIO option before i could use them.

Did the ASIO4all drivers install without errors?

There are Fender Universal ASIO drivers on their support downloads section but i couldn't get these to work

Do you see the 'ASIO4all' drivers in device settings for your recording software? (PS what software are you using?)

I had to change my recording software's 'driver mode' it defaulted to WDM/KS i had a drop option for ASIO- that's when the ASIO4all drivers appeared and could be setup.

When they are working I had a small icon appear in my bottom right screen tray looked like a pause icon ie II. NB ASIO only seems to kick in when software tries to use them.

I have tried FUSE , it didn't do much for me, think its more relevant for other amps.

Worth giving your country's tech support a call - I had a very positive experience with mine. It was made clear that Fender dont support SONAR (my DAW) but their tech guy did talk me through some setting options which helped a great deal.

Hope this helps
Rgds

I finally got it to work, it´s a question of setting op the ASIO driver and the soundcard correct. ( Same sampling frequenze, disabling the soundcard input and open for the ASIO amp input )

But i works fine when everything is setup correct.

A disadvantage is, as far as I can see, you have to disaple the ASIO driver manually when you want to play ordinary musicfiles ex. in your Windows Media Player.
