I've been playing guitar and bass for years, but I'm actually quite terrible when it comes to the hardware side of things, and by quite terrible, I mean that I am a complete novice. I inherited my brother's Fender Concert Amp when he moved across the country, and it used to work perfectly, but at a certain point a few years ago, something happened to it and I'm not sure what the problem is. I could go bring it to a shop, but I wanted to see if it was actually worth bringing to the shop or maybe I'm overlooking something very obvious.

The amp in question looks like this, lifted from another site:

My brother took all of the pedals with him, so I can't test the sound any other way than by using different guitars/basses through the clean channel. Nowadays, I can not get a totally clean sound - it always sounds slightly distorted, almost like the sound is clipping rather than any genuine distortion or high gain. It's bothersome to say the least, and I'd like to find out just what might be wrong with it. I'm likely going to have to bring it to a shop, and that's fine, because it's treated me well when I first started learning guitar.

Any help or insights would be great! Thanks!

It's a fifty-watt amp.

Who told you otherwise?

Likely it was made in the late '90s or early 2000's and it's prolly ready for some routine maintenance. If you do not understand vacuum-tube architecture then take it to someone who does.

I assumed it was 180W because it says that right under the voltage on the back of the amp. It says 120V ~ 60 Hz with 180W underneath it.

Yes. That's the amount of power it's pulling from a wall socket when delivering its maximum-rated output to the speakers.
