Can anyone tell me how I can run a stereo output into mono input so I get both channels into the Power Amp In jack on my Blues Deluxe RI?

I am thinking something like a Y cable L and R channel to mono plug.

Although the Y cable would work, you might get a bad signal when combining an L and R for many types of equipment, and/or not good for the equipment. What's the point of doing that? Any pedal or effect that has stereo out, can be used with one output, either L or R by itself, with no advantage in combing both sides. If you are using a home stereo or music player it will sound like crap if used into the amp in this manner, and it will no longer be stereo anyway. What exactly did you have in mind?

At the moment it sounds great but it's only one channel - I am just inquiring how this would be hooked up. Otherwise, if I had two BDRIs, I wouldn't be asking.
Fender has the RCA inputs on their Frontman 25R. I would love to see that on the BDRI - they have the power amp in, so.... apparently something can be done to make this doable.

I'm using a mixer and desire both channels.

A few big differences between the two amps. For starters, the FM is solid state, the BDRI is tube. With the FM, the RCA inputs are into the preamp not the power amp, so there is a huge signal difference. Plus, there is a simple resistor/capacitor circuit in the FM amp used to combine the two inputs to a mono signal, it's designed to accept input from a stereo or music player, but the signal still becomes mono in the amp.

A guitar amp makes for a horrible PA, and I still can't figure why you want to put the stereo output from a mixer into an instrument amplifier's mono power amp input. You should use the mono out from the mixer, because if you combine the L and R out it will not be stereo anyway. The mono out of the mixer will have both channels already combined.

If you use a Y cable from mixer to amp, you risk damage to mixer and/or amp, and almost certainly will get distortion. If you want to do it safely, connect a 10 K ohm resistor to each positive output from the mixer L and R (one resistor for each side, two resistors total), then connect the other ends of the resistors together to feed the mono plug tip into the amp, then connect both negatives (shields) from the mixer together connected to the sleeve of the mono plug.

No matter how you connect to one amp, it will never be stereo. The mixer really needs it's own stereo amp and monitors, and trying to use an instrument amp for that purpose is a horrible idea.

11. AUX IN - RCA input jacks for use with a portable

CD or tape player, drum machine, etc. These

input jacks are not affected by the amplifier’s

volume or tone controls. Adjust the signal at

the source.

BDRI
L. PREAMP OUT / POWER AMP IN -

(1) Effects Loop - Connect PREAMP OUT to your effects

input, and POWER AMP IN to the effects output.

(2) Multiple Amps - Connect PREAMP OUT on the

primary unit to POWER AMP IN on the auxiliary unit. The

primary unit is used to control the auxiliary unit, except for

Reverb and Presence which remain active on each unit.

(3) Recording or Reinforcement - Connect PREAMP

OUT to the input of sound equipment.

Use shielded instrument cables with PREAMP

OUT and POWER AMP IN. Both jacks are located before

Reverb and Presence in the signal path.

Are we sending a signal out to a recorder?
Are we sending a signal through the effects loop?

Obviously, if we can send a signal to a recorder or mixer (ala sound reinforcement) and if we can send a signal through an fx loop, obviously
there is something about that signal that shouldn't hurt either the mixer or in reverse, the amp. Remember, the amp can feed that signal to another amp's "power amp in".

Mind you, I would like two BDRI's for this to get stereo.
Maybe there's stereo to mono gadget out there and I am just talking to the wrong crowd here.

My sound system has to becustom tailored to my hearing. So.... I hope that explains the weirdness - Objective is to get both channel signals to one speaker.

We'll see if it works....
I admit, I would rather have all the space in the world with PAs and Pro Studio Monitors, JBL L100s yada yada... But I am making do with what I have.
