Hi groupies,

I have a Silverfaced Evil twin here.

It has ALL the current factory revs in it.

PROBLEM: With ALL the volume controls turned down , you can STILL hear guitar through the speakers.

I've been through it pretty well. Confirmed that ALL the tubes are wired right, biased right and ring out to other components ok.

So....ANY ideas??

painintheamp (at) gmail (dot) com

Thanks

Yes, turn the guitar volume down and don't worry about it. It is quite common, and frankly not a problem. Why in the world would anyone try to play the amp with the volume turned all of the way down anyway?

I don't believe that I have ever even thought about playing my guitar with the amp volume turned all the way down. Guess I'll have to try it sometime.

Every amp that I've worked on , Guitar,Bass and, stereo; when you turn the Volumes OFF, they are off.

I just worked on another of the same amp before this one.

It did not exhibit this problem.

It's EVIL.

It isn't unusual for some pots to have a little resistance when turned down, not quite going to zero ohms. If it bothers you that much, check the pot resistance from the wiper to that side. I still say that this is not really a problem. What's the harm?
