I never buy anything without a lot of careful thought, but I came across the Excelsior amp in our local music store. I happened to have some extra cash, so I made a pure impulse purchase! It is a hoot - back when I started playing music in the '60's we all wanted Fender amps, but we all ended up using no-name amps just like this! We'd find them at 2nd hand stores or the back of somebody's barn. And, not only is this a great amp for guitar, it's a sweet sounding amp with a vintage Vox or Farfisa organ - that 15" speaker is awesome! It's a perfect match for a Fender Reverb unit. And, they gave it an accordion input - perfect touch!!

Is it true, that the production of the Excelsior has already been stopped after two month? These rumours run around european guitarists bulletin boards. No shop has one, reviews and Utube vids ran high with praise but no possibility to buy one, even in the big shops. Some who got one from the first delivery, sell them on Ebay for prices high above the regular price.
Anyone from Fender any comment? Whats going on?

Yeah, I ordered one, paid it and hear about delivery "maybe in 5 weeks, maybe never".

Can't comment on availability outside USA, but according to this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie ... -combo-amp
they're "in stock and ready to ship"

Paper has patience and html-pages even more. Most european sites list them as availabel too, but if you order one or phone them and ask, they say "maybe September, but it's not sure". And some spread the rumour that production has been stopped, refering to "Insiders". Others speculate if it is a marketing gag or truth.

Most of the US based on-line music equipment distributors are up front on their stated stock status based on my dealings with them. I believe that if MF says "they're in stock and ready to ship", they are. There are other US based suppliers that are currently stating "out of stock". So obviously, overall supply is lagging the demand. But as is typical on the internet, speculation grows and usually goes out of control.
