I've heard that if you put in a Jensen C12N speaker in a BJ (just like the one in the tweed N.O.S.) that it really makes your BJ sound a lot better. Has anyone done this or has anyone tried the two side by side? If so can you tell me if it really makes it sound better?

It doesn't sound better to me.

I think the C12N is bright and harsh-sounding for solo play, but it does cut well in a band situation.

There are many other speakers that do well in the Blues Junior. My favorite (and the fave of many others) is the Eminence Texas Heat.

I'm waiting for my Jensen C12K to arrive so I can replace it in my Blues Deluxe.

I just practice with maybe a gig here and there and have heard that the Texas Heat is 100 watts isn't that a little too much for practice?

Hello Hottrod,

I paid $80 more for NOS to get the speaker
I felt it sounded better,
as for the tweed box that may end up on ebay.

Cheers.

Just last night I installed a Jensen C12K in my Blues Deluxe and, although I will need more time to break it in, it shoulds much better. The trebs are much softer, the mids aren't so farty and I can actually enjoy the Master Channel.

Speakers are obviously a matter of taste.
That said I find the Jensen C12N to be a good choice if you want your HRD to favour the "traditional Fender" end of it's versatility. [The C12K is a higher power varient of the N]
The Jensen can sound a bit "in yer face " when new and takes a little longer to run in than some spaekers. [maybe due to it's rather stiff suspension].
I currently have an HRD with the C12N and another with a Celestion V30.
The Celestion loaded example cetainlt has more of a "Mid Atlantic" vibe.
Horses for courses really.
FWIW the stock Eminence in the standard HRD is a very decent all round speaker and well chosen for an amp with such a wide customer base.
If you like the stock sound...there's certainly nothing wrong with it.
Other speakers allow you to tailor the amp to more specific requirements.

You're right, the Eminence is a decent stock speaker and some people wouldn't even be able to tell a blatant difference but there is an obvious difference between my old Eminence and the new Jensen.

I gotta tell ya folks, I've had that Jensen C12K in for 5 days and the tone of my amp is now fantastic. Best decision I've made regarding my sound.
