A guitarist buddy of mine has a Super 60 guitar amp whose speaker is in need of re-coning (not sure the amp is post-1985 but I'm guessing that it is). I have re-coned loudspeakers for many years and would like to find a re-cone kit for it, but from what I can see, the speaker has a label that just says "Fender" on it and I need to know the model number before I can find the right kit. It has a large ferrite magnet and is quite heavy; the frame has the look of an E-V speaker, but I'm not sure. What are the OEM speaker options for this amp?

Any numbers ink-stamped on the frame or magnet structure?

@ Arjay,
Thanks for your reply. It's in the amp at the moment, so I don't know. Was not able to see anything on the sides or back with a flashlight while it is mounted. Will take it out and check more thoroughly.

Post a pic or two if you can. I seem to recollect that the Gauss PS12 was an optional speaker in those amps.

I haven't heard the name Gauss for a while! I will see the amp tomorrow (Wed 7/25) so I'll see if I can get some pix with my cell then, and post them.

Gauss began to replace JBL as the premium-speaker upgrade for Fender amps in the late '70s. The PS-series were quite similar to the previous Lansings with a short-throw cone, cast-alloy frame, large voice coil, aluminum dust cover, and enormously heavy magnet structure. I think EV also built an OEM speaker for Fender that featured similar specs.
